Dr. Kat Cohen is the founder & CEO of IvyWise and one of the leading independent university admissions counselors in the world. Dr. Kat is the best-selling author of The Truth About Getting In and Rock Hard Apps, and is a sought-after speaker and expert on university admissions.

Dr. Kat graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University. She continued her studies at Yale University, receiving two master’s degrees and a PhD. She also received her certificate in College Admission Counseling from U.C.L.A. Extension. Prior to founding IvyWise, she served as a Reader in the Yale University Office of Admissions, evaluating applications to Yale College.

She is a YPO member, one of the most highly rated YPO Speakers, and has been a Faculty Resource for YPO since 2000. Dr. Kat also speaks frequently to banks, corporations, and schools about the university admissions process. Dr. Kat serves as the Higher Education Expert for LinkedIn and on the Educational Advisory Board of REACT to FILM. Dr. Kat is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the International Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC), and the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC). She has chaired the Brown University Alumni Schools Committee and is currently a member of the advisory board of the Brown Entrepreneurship Program. She lives in New York City with her family.
